What Will It Look Like

The Evacuees Reunion Association has been fortunate in securing the interest and expertise of the highly acclaimed Artist and Sculptor Maurice Blik ATC PPRBS FRSA.

Born in the Netherlands, he too was a child in the Second World War and therefore has an immediate understanding, rapport and empathy with this project.

He has created a Maquette (scale model) of the proposed monument (above) which the ERA has accepted.

His imaginative design truly symbolises the bewilderment, anxiety and uncertainty of children sent off to unknown and often unwelcoming destinations. It will portray the disruption to their lives throughout the duration of the war and will preserve for all time the history of that generation. Maurice Blik is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA) and is Past President of the Royal British Society of Sculptors (PPRBS).

He has had numerous exhibitions and completed a number of public and private exhibitions, including

  • ‘Renaissance’ East India Dock London UK
  • ‘Slave Worker’s Memorial’ Jersey Heritage Museum Jersey Channel Isles UK
  • ‘Behold’  Middlesex University Hendon NW London UK
  • ‘Splishsplash’ Monroe Carell Children’s Hospital Vanderbilt University Nashville USA
  • ‘About Face’ Regent Quarter Kings Cross London UK

Maurice Blik works in the UK and the USA where he has been awarded permanent residency by the United States Government as ‘a person of extraordinary ability’.

The Evacuees Reunion Association is proud to announce Maurice Blik ATC PPRBS FRSA as the artist chosen to create this memorial. His maquette (scale model) of the monument is shown here.
